Bag packing

Posted on June 2nd, 2014 by John Anderson
On the 1st June the Scouts along with some local Explorers spent the Sunday bag packing to raise the funds. The Explorers were raising money towards trips to the World Scout Jamboree in Japan, as well as an Indonesia trip for Turtle conservation work. The Scouts were raising money to go towards new equipment. In total £821 was raised. Many thanks to Lindsayfield Morrisons for allowing us to do the bag pack, and a big Thank You to all those that put money in our buckets.

Scouts visit to Xscape.

Posted on January 20th, 2014 by John Anderson
The Scouts will be making a visit to the Xscape centre at Braehead on Friday 21st February to have a go at the sky park and the fan drop. The Sky Park is a state of the art aerial adventure course, 60m long, 15m above the ground, including a zip slide, traverse wall, hanging logs, jigsaw, swinging rungs, swinging platforms, cargo net, Burma bridge and rope ladders! The Fan drop is twin fan descenders - the first of their kind in the world - clip on and jump! Freefall most of the way until the fan slows you to a gentle landing 15m below! The cost is £11, and Scouts should meet at the church at 7pm and we would be looking to return at around 9.30pm. Further details of the venue can be found at http://www.climbzone.co.uk.

Scouts – Night Hike 6th December

Posted on December 2nd, 2013 by John Anderson

We have organised a Night Hike for the Scouts for Friday 6th December, at the end of the hike the Scouts will sleepover at the 3rd EK’s hall.

The Scouts will hike/navigate themselves round the route in their patrols and be carrying their own equipment.
Scouts should be wrapped up appropriately for the weather. Waterproofs will be required, and it is better to dress with several layers. Scouts should not wear jeans. For the hike they will require some food and drink. The drink should not be fizzy.

For the sleepover, Scouts will require a sleeping mat, sleeping bag as well as a dry change of clothes. This should be kept separate from the hiking gear as we will transport it to the hall at the start of the hike.

Under no circumstances should Scouts bring a mobile phone with them.

Scouts should meet at 7pm at the swing park in Jackton, and should be collected at 10am from the 3rd EK Scout Hall on Carlyle Drive (behind the John Wrights) on the Saturday.
